Unidentified militants attacked an army convoy in Kralgund area of Handwara in Kupwara district this morning injuring four personnel. Police sources said that the militants ambushed the convoy around 7:30 AM when it was on its way from Kupwara to Srinagar. Reports said, the attackers fled from the spot.
The sources said, the injured soldiers have been shifted to Army’s Base Hospital in Srinagar, and the condition of one is stated to be critical. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to nab the attackers.
No militant outfit has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. This is the second such attack in north Kashmir in less than a month. On the 17th of last month, two army men and a policeman were killed when Hizbul Mujahideen militants ambushed an army convoy in Baramulla district.
