At least 30 Yemeni soldiers were killed and several others injured in a suicide attack today at a gathering in the southern city of Aden. Officials said, the attack targeted a crowd of soldiers gathered to collect their salaries at a base in northeastern Aden.

No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. The bombing follows a near identical attack earlier this week, in which 48 soldiers were killed.

Aden is controlled by various factions loyal to the internationally recognized government of President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi. They are battling the Shia Houthi rebels and their allies, who have seized much of north-western Yemen. IS and al-Qaeda have taken advantage of the conflict to bolster their presence in the south of the country.
