Three people including a toddler died in rain related incidents when heavy rain lashed battered several parts of Hyderabad last evening. The cloud burst which went on for four hours, thrown normal life out off gear in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

A youth by name Afsar (35) died of electrocution at Mehboob Chowk. John Edulu (35) and his 6-months old son also died when a wall collapsed in Zohra Nagar, Singada Kunta, Banjara Hills area. John’s wife Mera (30) was seriously injured.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) authorities informed that a person got electrocuted to death when he touched a wire which fell on his auto-trolley carrying chicken at Murgi Chowk area.

Another 27 year old person and a toddler died after a hut got buried in mud at Banjarahills area of Hyderabad. They informed that 2 lakh rupees compensation and 50 thousand rupees assistance will be provided to the kin of the each deceased.

In addition, 1.5 lakh rupees will be given through electricity department to the kin of the person who died due to electrocution.

Meanwhile, the authorities have declared a holiday to schools and colleges today following met officials forecast moderate to heavy rain likely in about 10 districts of Telangana for next 2-3 days.

Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed the GHMC officials to keep constant vigil especially over dilapidated structures. He asked them to keep men and machinery ready to deal with any emergency.

The sudden downpour in Hyderabad shook the citizens with thunderbolts and black clouds last evening. Normal life has been thrown out of track following heavy rain lashed several parts of the capital city for 4-5 hours.

Vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt on all major roads and traffic junctions across the city as they became water pools. At several places, power supply was affected. Storm water flooded many low-lying areas. Several colonies reported water-logging within minutes of the thunder-showers.

Low lying areas inundated as rain water started gushing from nalas and Musi River, which passes through the city seen dangerously over flowing. Local train services were affected in some routes for a few hours while several passengers were stranded at bus terminals for many hours as almost all roads were inundated due to downpour.
