The second edition of Himalayan Film Festival (THFF) is starting in Ladakh today. Netflix India’s Jaane Jaan directed by Sujoy Ghosh and Ladakhi Short Film Last Days of Summer directed by Stenzin Tankong has been announced the opening of the five- day long film festival.

The first edition of the festival was held in 2021 and is revived this year after two years of gap with aim to connect the sparsely located Himalayan film makers with public and make film makers of Ladakh entrepreneurs.It also aims to promote budding Ladakhi film makers as well as provide an opportunity to develop their talents through learning and networking experiences with the film industry.

The opening ceremony of the festival scheduled this evening will be graced by Lieutenant Governor Dr B D Mishra in presence of Chief Executive Councillor of Leh Tashi Gyalson and other dignitaries.

The THFF organisers have planned to screen as many as 35 films of short, features , documentaries and Indies from 12 Himalayan states including popular Bollywood films for all age groups.

Under the theme of ” Mountain are Calling”, short film competition is also lineup for screening 15 top films and director of the best three films will be awarded during the Himalayan Film Festival.

Budding film makers will be given opportunity to hone their filmmaking skills with experts of film industry through selected themes of Master Classes, Screen Writer Lab and Photography Workshop.

It is being organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations of UT administration and Ladakh Autonomous Hills Development Council Leh.
