boys avert train accident

Two brave children in Bangladesh on Monday averted a major train accident by waving their red muffler.  According news reports from Bangladesh, the two boys stopped the Rajshahi bound train from Khulna at Jhina railway gate, around 400 kilometers off Arani station under Bagha upazila in the district, when they witness a broken fishplate around 9.30 am local time.

The two children were Shihabur Rahman, 6, son of Suman Ali of Jhina village of the upazila and Titon Ali, 7, son of Shahidul Islam of same village.

Titon and Shihabur said they saw the rail line broken while they were coming back from the field. Meanwhile, an oil-laden train was seen coming, and they waved their red muffler shouting to stop the train. The train eventually stopped just near the broken track.

Noyan Ahmed, Master of Arani Railway Station, said driver of the train KM Mohiuddin witnessed their signal and stopped the train. Then he told us after watching the broken line.

Thereafter, the railway authorities halted all trains travelling in the western zone. The situation returned to normal within around two hours after the fishplate was restored.
