According to police sources, Naxalites opened fire at a road opening party near Sulangi village under the Koilibeda police station area of Kanker district killing two BSF personnel on the spot. Two of BSF men injured are said to be in a serious condition.
One Maoist has also been killed in the shoot out. The injured personnel have been admitted to the local hospital. According to AIR, the Naxalites also removed the fish-plates of the railway track between Kirandool and Bacheli in Dantewada district on Sunday affecting rail traffic.
Police have recovered one rifle and two explosive devices along with the dead body of a naxalite from the spot. In the context of observing black day on Sunday the naxalites also sought to disrupt both rail and road traffic in some pockets of the Bastar division by removing fish plates of rail tracks and by laying trees on the roads.
Meanwhile in Maharasthra, suspected naxals on Sunday shot dead a youth in Gadchiroli district for allegedly being a police informer. Police said, the deceased, was killed by Red ultras in Ubapli in Dhanora tehsil. Four unidentified persons, suspected to be ultras, had killed one person in the district Saturday.
