Seven candidates have filed nomination papers for the forthcoming elections in Manipur. Till today, 19 candidates of different political parties submitted their nomination papers for the first phase election to be held on 27th of February.
On the fourth day of the filing of nominations for first phase election in Manipur, nine candidates of different political parties submitted their nomination papers. In Imphal East district five candidates filed their nomination papers including minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Thokchom Satyabrata of BJP from Yaiskul assembly constituency. His rival candidate Huidrom Vikramjit of NPP also filed his nomination paper on Friday. In Imphal West district Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly and BJP candidate K. Robindro filed his nomination papers from Mayang Imphal assembly constituency. From Thangmeiband Assembly constituency, the sitting MLA Kh. Joykishan filed nomination papers on the JD (U) ticket and his rival candidate Jotin Waikhom of BJP also filed nomination papers from the same assembly constituency.
Till today, 19 candidates have filed nomination for first phase elections in Manipur. The candidates are six from BJP,four from NPP, four from JD (U), two from INC, two independent candidates and one CPI candidate. Meanwhile, the election notification for second phase polls was issued today in Manipur. The last date of filing nomination papers is 11th February and scrutiny of nominations will be held on 14th February. Voting for second phase polls in Manipur will be held on 3rd March.
