In Afghanistan, 17 soldiers were killed in Taliban attack on an army base in western province of Farah.
Ghausuddin Noorzai, the district chief in Pusht Rod, in the western Farah province, said another four soldiers were also injured.
He said the attack, which began late yesterday continued this morning. Noorzai said 11 others were abducted by the Taliban. He said they also overran two checkpoints near the base, seizing weapons and ammunition.
