At least 15 people have been killed and over 69 injured in a bomb attack in the home city of President Rodrigo Duterte in Phillipines. President Rodrigo Duterte said explosion at the Roxas market in Davao City Friday night was an act of terrorism.

He has placed the country on lockdown, the official Philippines News Agency reports.

The market is known to attract thousands.

A presidential spokesman said investigators had found shrapnel from a mortar-based improvised explosive device at the scene. Police in the capital Manila are on high alert following the deadly blast.
