Thirteen 13 children were killed and 7 injured after their school bus collided with a train at a railway crossing in Bishunpur in Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh, today.
25 students of Divine Public School were in the van when the incident took place.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the accident and directed the District Administration to provide all possible help and Medical Aid to the injured. Chief Minister has also announced an ex-gratia of 2 lakh rupees to the next of the kin of those killed in the accident.
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the kin of the deceased. “I received the unfortunate news of the death of school children. I have asked senior officials to conduct a probe into the incident. Railways will give a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of the dead over and above the aid announced by the Uttar Pradesh government,” he said in a tweet.
