RANCHI: (AMN) About 12 Maoists and three security personnel have been killed in the ongoing encounter for the last three days in the Saranda forest range of West Singhbhum district.
According to Jharkhand Director General of Police Neyaz Ahmad 10 to 12 Maoists have been killed since Saturday. He however said that some of the bodies of the naxals were yet to be found. Meanwhile, the Maoists blew up a hostel and panchayat bhawan at nearby Anandpur and triggered three land mine blasts in the Tirilposhi jungle this morning. security forces have already smashed two training camps of the Maoists, a bunker and seized weapons and five grenades.
Meanwhile in Chhattisgarh, efforts are on for the safe release of the four policemen from Maoists custody. Naxalites had abducted 7 policemen from near Bhadrakali under Bijapur district about a week ago. They had subsequently killed three of them. The remaining four jawans are said to be in their captivity since. The captives include one ASI. According to media reports, the naxalites, last evening, have given a 48- hours ultimatum to the government to consider some of their demands in this connection.
