Eleven persons including three women have died as a five storey building collapsed in densely populated Pakmodia street near JJ road in South Mumbai today. 12 persons are reported injured.
Many others are feared to be trapped under the rubble. Fire Brigade and National Disaster Response Force are carrying out search and rescue operations.
The disaster management cell of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) received a call at 8.40 am about the collapse and 10 fire engines immediately rushed to site. Locals have also come forward to help.
A 45-member team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is carrying out the rescue operation with the help of Fire services personnel.
Many others are feared to be trapped under the rubble. The rescued people have been admitted to nearby J J Hospital.
