Indian government has committed to provide 100 non-Indian students full scholarship if they study Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (Ayush) in any of the public deemed universities across India. The students can be from any part of the world.
Minister for Ayush Sripad Naik who is on a three day visit to UAE to participate in the first ever International Ayush Conference and Exhibition in Dubai told AIR that the initiative is to encourage and popularize the alternative system of medicine. He said the details of the application process and scholarship will soon be available with the Indian missions abroad.
To promote the traditional system of medicine in the middle east region, the Ayush ministry is also in touch with the UAE Ministry of Health (MoH) to set up an Ayush chair in Dubai.
The 3 day Conference which began yesterday, is the first ever conglomeration of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy practitioners, policy makers, industrialists, researchers and students across the world.
