Union minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale has said that union government has taken a historic decision by providing 10 per cent reservation in jobs and educational institutions to the economically weaker section of general category candidates.

He said that earlier general category candidates had anger against SC, ST and OBC candidate because the economically backward sections were not getting the reservation. He said that this will benefit a large number of poor general class people he said.

Addressing media here, Mr.Athawale said this decision cannot be challenged in court as parliament has passed the bill and President has consented it.

He said out of two crore 63 lakh Divyangjan in country, 42 lakh live in Uttar Pradesh and union government is providing all possible help for their uplifting.

He said during last five years 8500 crore rupees have been spent on various schemes for Divyangjan. He said rupees 575 crores are being spent on a pension for more than two lakh 65 thousand in the state every year.

Reacting on Mamata Banerjee’s rally in West Bengal he said that a huge gathering of people is not a big thing for the ruling party. He said opposition unitedly want to stop Prime minister Narendra Modi as they are afraid of him. He termed Sri Modi as brave leader and said he is developing the country and providing facilities to people.

He criticised Mayawati for an alliance with SP and said she had, earlier, three times made a tie with BJP and formed a government and now she is terming BJP as a communal party. He said workers of both SP and BSP are not liking the alliance.

Replying to a question, he said that if his party Republican Party of Indian RPI is given two to three seats in Uttar Pradesh, it will attract Dalit votes for BJP. He said who so forgets Ram is forgotten by public.

On a question, he said it is good if a Buddha Temple is also detected at Ayodhya.
