At least ten persons were injured as Pakistani forces again resorted to heavy mortar shelling along the Line of Control in Poonch and Rajouri districts in Jammu and Kashmir.
Defence sources told media in Jammu that the forces from across the Line of Control started unprovoked firing and shelling targeting Indian positions and civilian areas in Balakote sector around 7am.
Later the Pakistan’s forces also extended the shelling to adjoining Manjakote sector of Rajouri district. The troops guarding the borderline retaliated and gave a befitting reply to the Pakistani shelling. The intermittent exchange of fire was continuing when the last reports came in.
The injured which also include two minors have been hospitalized. The condition of two of them is said to be critical. Some cattle also have been perished in the shelling and vehicles, houses and other buildings have suffered damages.
