External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said, ten Indian crew of a ship, which was hijacked by pirates near Africa’s Ivory Coast, have been rescued with the help of the Nigerian navy. Mrs Swaraj informed this in a tweet last evening.
The ship with 11 Indians was hijacked earlier this month. Mrs. Swaraj said, on India’s request, the ship was followed by Ghana and Nigerian Navy. She also said, efforts are on to secure the release of the 11th Indian, besides a Pakistani crew member.
