At the 36th National Games in Gujarat, Services continue to top the medals tally with a total of 115 medals including 53 gold, 33 silver and 29 bronze medals. However, Haryana was pushed to third spot by Maharashtra reigning on success of its Mallakhambh team.

The reigning Mallakhambh queen Rupali Sunil Gangwane clinched three of the five gold medals yesterday taking Maharashtra ahead of Haryana. Maharashtra now stands with overall 126 medals including 34 gold, 36 silver, 56 bronze medals. This is biggest biggest medal haul at this edition of the National Games. Haryana has overall 100 medals with 32 gold, 30 silver and 38 bronze medals.

Maharashtra’s Rupali Gangawane bagged the gold medal in the women’s rope mallakhamb competition with 9.25 points. Akshay Prakash Taral also from the state, won gold in the men’s rope competition with 8.95 points. Shubhankar Vinay Khawle scored 9.20 points in the pole competition to win Maharashtra’s third gold medal in Mallakhamb. 10 year-old Shauryajit Khaire from Gujarat created history by becoming the youngest medallist of the 2022 Games with a bronze in pole mallakhamb.

Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka will lock horns for the men’s hockey gold medal in the final at Major Dhyanchand Hockey Ground in Rajkot at 3.30 this afternoon. UP beat Maharashtra 3-2 in the semi final match at Rajkot yesterday, while Karnataka beat Haryana 3-1. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh women’s hockey team beat Jharkhand in the bronze medal match at Rajkot.
