Suspected ethnic minority insurgents in Myanmar, have launched attacks in the eastern state of Shan, leaving 19 people dead and 29 wounded.

The government said, about 100 insurgents yesterday attacked 3 locations, including a police facility, in Muse town.

The government asserts the attackers are insurgents from 2 ethnic minority groups. It says that the insurgents are based in Shan and the neighboring state of Kachin, and are demanding greater autonomy.
