Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah has invited AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa to form a new government in the state. Earlier, the Governor accepted the resignation of Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who resigned after Ms. Jayalalithaa was unanimously elected the leader of AIADMK Legislature Party in Chennai today. Party Treasurer and Chief Minister O Panneeerselvam forwarded the motion to elect her as legislature party leader which was seconded by Electricity Minister Natham R Vishwanathan. Ms. Jayalalithaa is likely to take over as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu tomorrow. Jaya was disqualified following her conviction in the 66.66 crore rupees disproportionate assets case by a trial court in Bengaluru on September 27. Karnataka High Court had subsequently acquitted her of the charges on May 11.
