Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu today said controversy over holding of judges’ conference on Good Friday was aimed at showing NDA government in negative picture.

Addressing BJP workers in New Delhi on the occasion of party’s foundation day, Mr. Naidu said that linking the function to secularism is not correct. He said the conference was organized by Chief Justice of India and had nothing to do with the government.

He said such conferences were earlier held on Good Friday also. Mr. Naidu said though United States have 94 percent Christian population but Good Friday is still not a holiday there. He said BJP believes in oneness and gives equal importance to all castes , communities and religions.

The Supreme Court Judge Justice Kurian Joseph had objected to the conference held on Good Friday and wrote a letter to the Chief Justice on the issue.
