Recently, state congress leaders led by AICC General Secretary and Incharge of the state Ghulam Nabi Azad met Congress President Sonia Gandhi and discussed organization matter.

According to highly reliable congress source, the congress chief had made it very clear that next leader will be of “clean” image who did not carry any luggage of any charges and free from groupism.

Congress high command is believed to be very upset with some senior state congress leaders and told them to rise above any personal gains and work towards the welfare of the party, said a congress sources.

Meanwhile, former minister in the UPA-I minister of state for rural development Chandrashekar Sahu and former minister in the state government Niranjan Patnaik are in the reckoning and others have weathered away.

If insiders are to be believed in the congress circles the name of Chandrashekar Sahu is almost finalized and likely to be named next OPCC Chief.

Senior congress leader Niranjan Patnaik did not find favour with the congress high command for his advanced age.
