Night curfew has been imposed in Kerala in view of the rising Omicron cases will come into effect from today. The night regulations will be in place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. until the 2nd of January. No religious, political, cultural or social gatherings would be allowed after 10 p.m. in the coming days. Those who go out for urgent needs should carry a certificate citing the valid reason. New Year’s celebrations are not allowed after 10 p.m. and movie screenings are allowed only till 10 p.m.

State Health Minister Veena George has urged people to be extra vigilant in the wake of the rising number of Omicron cases in the state. So far, 63 cases of Omicron have been confirmed in the state. Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram districts have recorded the highest incidence of the disease.

The Central team assessing the Omicron situation in Kerala visited Palakkad and evaluated treatment facilities and vaccination progress in the district. The team met with health workers in the district.
