The Controversy over Muhammad Ali Jinnah photo at Aligarh Muslim University, AMU continues to hog limelight across India. Leaders and intellectuals continue to express their view on Jinnah. The latest statement has come from BJP MP Savitri Bai Phule who has termed founder of Pakistan as ‘great man’ who she said played great role in independence of India.
At a press conference in Bahraich she said, “Matter is not Jinnah, it is being done to divert the mind of the people, Jinnah was a great man, he was respected man, and his statue should be installed with respect.”
She said that Jinnah had a great contribution in the struggle for freedom. Earlier a BJP minister UP Swami Prasad Maurya had praised Jinnah. Maurya had said that such great men had played important role in the independence of India, if someone questions them, it is a wrong thing.
Savitri Bai Phule said that the people of Bahujan Samaj are constantly getting injustice, but the government is silent. Dalit interest should not be talked about; atrocities cannot be discussed, so the other things are being made the issue.
On the killing of Bhima Army worker in Saharanpur she said, “He was martyred because he was a follower of Baba Saheb, but the government is not taking cognizance.” There is panic among Dalits in the country.
