Maoists abducted three Telugu Desam Pary (TDP) leaders in Visakhapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh, late last evening. Telugu Desam Mandal party president Mamidi Balayya Padal, senior leader Vandalam Balayya and district committee member Mukkala Mahesh were taken away from their homes at Kothaguda village in Gudem Kotha Veedhi Mandal. There is no information about the fate of kidnapped leaders so far. This is the latest incident in the Visakha Agency area bordering Odisha.
The CPI (Maoist) party east division secretary Kailasam has sent a letter today demanding that the Government stop bauxite mining plans and withdraw paramilitary forces from the Agency besides stopping harassment of tribals. The Telugu Desam Government has made it clear that it would go ahead with bauxite mining.
