India’s leading cement manufacturer, UltraTech Cement has announced its foray into new markets post the acquisition of Jaypee Cement plants, with Vijayawada in Andhra Pardesh as the first city of launch.
Managing Director of UltraTech limited K K Maheshwari said that the brand launch of UltraTech in Vijayawada marked is the beginning of a new era in the local cement industry. The UltraTech with its technologically superior product, wide distribution network and excellent Technical Services would benefit consumers and other stakeholders.
The Managing Director said that UltraTech Cement’s new wave of expansion is aligned with the Government’s infrastructure development goals and reinforces its strategic participation in India’s economic growth story.
“Andhra Pradesh is a strategic market for UltraTech Cement and provides huge growth potential. By announcing our foray into the market, This milestone marks the beginning of a brand new chapter that underscores the UltraTech’s entry into high growth markets of India, where it needs greater reinforcement.” he added.
Mr Maheshwari informed that the UltraTech Cement, which earlier had a cement production capacity of around 63 million tons, acquired Jaypee’s six integrated plants and five grinding units, spread across the states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh, with a capacity of 21.2 million tons. With the Jaypee Cement acquisition and another new plant commissioning, UltraTech has emerged as the fourth largest cement player globally (excluding the Chinese players) with a total capacity of 93 million tonne per annum and the largest player in India by an even larger margin, he added.
