No let up in Delhi dengue crisis

(Last Updated On: 26/09/2015)

AMN /

Despite Delhi government’s efforts to prevent the spread of Dengue , there is no let up in number of patients in the national capital.

The city is witnessing the worst outbreak of vector borne disease in the last six years.

Over 5,400 people in the national capital are affected with dengue and at least 17 people have succumbed to the disease.

Meanwhile, BJP-ruled municipal corporations of the city have welcomed the decision to hold a CAG audit of the preparedness of Delhi government and the local bodies to deal with dengue.

Chairman of standing committee of North Delhi Municipal Corporation Mohan Prasad Bhardwaj said the audit should also include non-release of 700 crore rupees for MCDs as recommended by the Delhi Fourth Finance Commission and the specified funds for anti-Malaria operations during the current year by the Delhi government.

All three corporations have been alleging that Delhi government has not released enough funds to the civic bodies, while AAP dispensation have blamed the MCD for the dengue crisis the city is currently battling.
