The member, Planning Commission, Dr. Narendra Jadhav, inaugurated the festival by lighting the lamp.
The Festival started with exquisite traditional delicacies of the State with the exotic Lavani dance forms. Maharashtra cuisine is popular for its delectable savories. Connoisseurs from the Capital, NCR region including foreign visitors thronged the Festival to relish Varhaadi items like Saoji Mutton, Pathawadi, Vada Pav, Pav Bhaji, Kolhapuri Mutton, Bhelpuri and sweets like Shrikhand and Puran Poli.
The lavani dance by Ms Reshma Paritekar and her team from Pune mesmerized the audience with the captivating rhythm of dholak. Attractive women wearing nine-yard saris synchronized sensually to a catching tune and teasing lyrics entertained the visitors.
Present on the occasion were the Principal Secretary and Resident Commissioner,Mr Bipin Mallick and Assistant Resident Commissioner, Ms Nandini Awade among others at the Maharashtra Sadan lawns. The state government’s Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samiti has organized the festival.
