Kejriwal govt waves off water bills on completion of one year in office

kejriwalArvind Kejriwal led AAP Government in Delhi has announced waiver of outstanding water bills for domestic consumers. Presenting report card of Aam Aadmi Party Government in Delhi on the completion of one year in office, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, the waiver scheme will be applicable to the pending bills upto 30th of November last year.

The decision followed representations from various quarters demanding a chance to consumers to clear their dues. The waiver will be given to the consumers on graded basis. He said, those residing in E,F,G and H categories colonies will get hundred per cent waiver of their bills while residents of C and D categories will get 50 per cent and A and B categories 25 per cent.

AAP government announced providng piped water supply for every household by December next year.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed hope that irregularities by the power distribution companies will be detected after the CAG audit. He said the city government has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court and after audit by the CAG, power Bills of the consumers will further come down.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the government will spend 25 per cent of budget on education with a focus on training programmes and physical infrastructure.

In the 2015-16 Budget, the AAP government had allocated 9,836 crore rupees for the education sector. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said,tender have been floated for 1000 mohalla clinics and they will be ready by December this year.

Delhi Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues also interacted with the callers through phone-in programme and social media platforms and answered their queries. Meanwhile, the BJP and the Congress have termed the one year tenure of AAP government as a year of complete failure and betrayal.

Delhi BJP unit Chief Satish Upadhyaya led a protest of party workers at Jantar Mantar. The Congress also took out a candle light march from Rajghat to ITO Chowk to mark what the party calls the misrule of the AAP government.
