Jaitley denies any Govt role in National Herald case


Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said the government has no role in National Herald case. Speaking at a function in New Delhi, Mr Jaitley said there is no file on the National Herald with the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He also clarified that transfer of ED Director Rajan S Katoch is not related to the National Herald case.

Mr Jaitley accused the opposition Congress of holding country’s democracy to ransom over the web it created by its own financial transaction in the National Herald case. He said the government has walked an extra mile to explain the Goods and Services Tax bill to the Congress but their agenda is to paralyse the country.

On the Congress demand for including GST rate in the Constitutional amendment bill, the Mr Jaitley said, tariff cannot be written in Constitution.
