Renowned script writer Bhowmick passes away

MUMBAI (AMN): Well knwon playwright and screenplay stalwart Sachin Bhowmick passed away here on Tuesday.  Bhowmick who penned Aradhana, Golmaal and ‘An Evening in Paris’ in half-a-century-long career studded with many such classics was 81 and 81 and is survived by his son Sandip and his family who lived with the writer.

‘Ab Samachar mein Hindi suniye’

“They should not announce ‘Ab Hindi mein samachar suniye’ they should say, ‘Ab Samachar mein Hindi suniye.’” Balraj Sahni, the great actor, quoted his friend and colleague Johnny Walker while speaking at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1972. Sahni was talking about the Urdu-Hindi divide and also lambasted the Pakistan radio ‘for ruining the beauty of this language by thrusting into it as many Persian and Arabic words as possible’.

The Tamil Film World, also known as Kollywood, has a history of importing heroines from either northern India or neighboring southern states.However Tamil cinema goers hardly like non-Tamil heroes.They always prefer Heroes from Tamil Nadu with a few exceptions.
