NEW DELHI—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken strongly condemned using intentionally and deliberately the forged degree of law to acquire unjust status by  Delhi Law Minister Jitender Tomar from a Bihar University and play fraud upon the people, and sought his resignation from the Delhi Council of Ministers.

Maken not only demanded the resignation of Jitender Tomar, but also held Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal responsible for not taking any action against Tomar, despite having sufficient and substantial knowledge in this regard. He further said that the moment this fact came to the knowledge of Kejriwal, he was suo moto required to take action against Tomar..

The DPCC chief said the CM had no reason to support Tomar by permitting him to continue in the Council of Ministers. Maken is hopeful that though law will take its own course, he wondered how Kejriwal is permitting such fraudulent tactics, is required to be answered.

It may be recalled that the Tilak Manjhi Bhagalpur University filed an affidavit in the Delhi High Court stating that Tomar’s provisional certificate was “fabricated and doesn’t exist in their record”, and the roll number cited by Tomar was also incorrect.  The Bar Council of Delhi has suspended Tomar’s licence after the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University in Uttar Pradesh admitted that Tomar’s graduation degree was fake. (Tomar has maintained that he did his BSc degree from there).
