The programme is being implemented under Bhagidari initiative with active support of corporate, business houses, individuals, and other religious organizations.
A cheque amounting to Rs.3, 54,900/- was handed over by the Mrs Dikshit to Mr Shuklambhara Das of Akshay Patra Foundation in the presence of city Industries Minister Ramakant Goswami as first installment of sponsorship money for feeding 300 persons per day for three months. The DSIIDC will support the program for one year.
The Akshay Patra Foundation has been running five centres out of which three being run by their own fund. With DSIIDC sponsoring one centre, the Akshay Patra run fully financed centres have come down to two. In all, more than a dozen Centres are being run under this program in Delhi. One-time meal is being provided to those hapless, destitute persons who often go to sleep empty stomach on the city street. Hygienic vegetarian meals is being served daily from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M.
