BJP for CAG audit of power companies

He said that it would help in exposing manipulation of accounts involving crores of rupees by the companies every year.  In a letter to the union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, Gupta said that centre should compel the Delhi Government to take such legal measures which are required for CAG audit into the accounts of power companies.

If any new Legislation is required to be framed by the Centre or Delhi that should be brought as soon as possible. He has also appealed to all the RWAs that they should openly cooperate with the BJP in its fight against the loot by the private companies because the power companies by manipulating the accounts and forging documents are committing corruption of crores.

He said that on the 1st July, 2002 power distribution in Delhi was privatised on the promise that this will help in reducing power tariff in Delhi and the people will be getting high quality uninterrupted power.  These promises have not been fulfilled.  The Public Accounts Committee of Delhi Government had alleged corruption of eight thousand crore rupees against Delhi Government.  At that time the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of Delhi was Congress Legislator Dr. S.C. Vats. This enquiry has not been done as yet because had the enquiry been done then the Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit would have been found guilty.

The Delhi BJP chief told that even after privatisation, all the movable & immovable properties of DVB are with Delhi Government.  Delhi Government is the owner of these properties.   But the power companies are misusing these properties.  These companies have made such arrangements that no honest company is able to supply power equipments to them.  These companies deliberately adopt such tender process that no outsider is able to tender in it.  Other companies formed by these private companies participate in the tender process and supply equipments at many times higher rates than the market price.

This is done deliberately so that the companies may exaggerate their expenditure and show loss.  Demand has also been made to the Home Minister for enquiry into this forgery.  He further told that during hearing of the representatives of RWAs by the DERC the media persons were stopped from entering those places which is condemnable.  This way the Delhi Government is imposing restrictions on the entry of the media in the atmosphere of corruption.  It shows that Delhi Government may go to any extent to frustrate the attempt for exposing corruption.
