Maharashtra Government has announced financial assistance to the tune of ten thousand crore rupees for farmers affected by heavy rain.

During a State Cabinet meeting that was chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the government on Wednesday decided to provide a compensation of ten thousand rupees per hectare for loss of agricultural crops.

An official statement informed that financial aid of fifteen thousand per hectare will be given for horticulture crops and twenty five thousand rupees per hectare for destruction of perennial crops due to floods. The government has, however, limited the compensation to just two hectares of land.

According to government estimates, crops on 55 lakh hectares of land were destroyed due to heavy rainfall between June and October this year.
