Iraqi security forces have captured Sami Jasim, a senior member of the Islamic State group who was a deputy to slain leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and oversaw its finances. This was disclosed by Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.

Jasim is a member of Islamic State’s top leadership council, he has 5 million US dollar bounty on his head. He is believed to be only the second IS leader to be captured alive. Iraqi Prime Minister wrote on Twitter that Sami Jasim was detained in “a complex external operation” by Iraqi intelligence services but did not disclose further details or saying where he had been captured.
