At Cape Town, fine performances by Indian bowlers, led by Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, helped the team dismiss South Africa for a modest first innings total of 286 runs on Day One on Friday.
Electing to bat after winning the toss, the hosts were reduced to 12 for three inside the fifth over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar accounted for all the three dismissals.
The hosts recovered through a whirlwind 114-run stand for the fourth-wicket between AB de Villiers and skipper Faf du Plessis.
For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the main wicket-taker with an analysis of four for 87 in 19 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin claimed two wickets.
India were 21 for 2 in their reply, when reports last came in.
