15,000 flats ready for slum dwellers in Delhi

Allotment of 7,000 flats is likely to start in October-November this year. Besides, Government is also mulling to pay the share of Rs. 60,000 for the eligible SC/ST slum dwellers. A proposal in this concern is under consideration, Mr. Chauhan said.

While speaking in the Vidhan Sabha ,he said that the Urban Development department (DUSIB) organised a special camp from April to check the documents of the residents of 33 slum clusters. The documents are being investigated. Allotment of 7000 flats to these eligible people will start in October-November 2011. Besides, 74,000 flats will be constructed to gear up the speed of rehabilitation in order to make Delhi – A slum free city. He also said that Rs 77.5 crore will be spent this year to undertake the development work in the Slums.
