14 Indian women enter semi finals of India Open International Boxing tournament



Indian women boxer including M C Mary Kom stormed into the Semi-Finals in the second India Open International Boxing tournament. Mary Kom defeated Mala Rai from Nepal without giving her any scope to fight. She will face compatriot Nikhat Zareen in the much anticipated Semi Final match in the 51 kg category.

Kalavani, Assam’s girl Jamuna Boro, Manju Rani, Monika, Jyoti and Meenakumari are entered into the Semi Finals. Other winning pugilists are – Vanlal Duati, Sonia, Shiksha , Neeraj , Kros Hamangaihaangi and Sandhyarani.

In men’s category, Ankit defeated his Philippines opponent. But in men’s 64 kg category, India’s Ashish lost to his Mauritius opponent. In 69 kg, Dinesh Dagar and Pawan Kumar also stormed into the quarter final round. In 75 kg category, Manjeet Panghal stormed into the Quater final as his opposition did not turn up to play.
