Indian women team registered a win over USA in the second round of world women’s team chess championship, in Khanty Mnsiysk, Russia today.
International Master Tania Sachdev crashed through the defences of US champion Sabina Foisor to guide Indian team to a 2.5-1.5 victory. The other three members of India’s women team, D.Harika, Padmini Rout and S.Vijayalakshmi managed a draw.The victory took Indian ladies to joint second spot on three points.
In the open section, the Indian men suffered 2 losses in as many matches and are on joint ninth spot with Egypt. Vidit Gujarathi and Kishnan Sasikiran have drawn their respective matches.
