South Africa beat India by five wickets in the third Women’s T20 Cricket International encounter in Johannesburg today.
South Africa first restricted India to 133 in 17.5 overs, on the back of a five-wicket haul from Woman-of-the-Match medium-pacer Shabnim Ismail.
The hosts then overhauled the target in exactly 19 overs. Sune Luus made 41 off 34 deliveries while skipper Dane van Niekerk contributed 26 runs. But it was Chloe Tryon’s 34 off 15 balls that saw them past the finish line.
India now lead the five-match series 2-1, as they had emerged winners in the first two encounters.
The fourth and penultimate women’s T20 match between the two teams will be played at SuperSport Park, Centurion, on Wednesday.
