Water level starts receding in many places in flood hit Assam

In flood hit Assam, the water level has started receding in many places. Situation slightly improved at Majuli, Lakhimpur, Jorhat and Golaghat today.

Nearly three thousand people have left camps on Friday following the improvement in situation. AIR correspondent reports nearly 15 lakh people are still reeling under flood fury at 25 districts on Friday.

District administrations and civil society organizations are providing relief materials. State Agriculture minister Atul Bora held a meeting with concerned officers at Guwahati on Friday.

The minister has asked his officials to take necessary measures to provide paddy saplings after flood. Over one lakh hectare crop areas were submerged in current wave of flood.
