VP asks MPs, MLAs to ensure Houses function properly

venkiah naiduVice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday asked Parliamentarians and Legislators to ensure that the Houses function properly.

Addressing the valedictory ceremony of the National Legislators Conference at the Central Hall of Parliament House, Mr Naidu expressed concern over repeated adjournments in the Houses.

He said, legislatures are certainly no places for placards and banners, adding that legislators cannot claim to be agents of development if they indulge in disruptions and demonstrations.

In his address, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also asked Parliamentarians and Legislators to maintain Parliamentary traditions.

He said, the elected representatives should not exaggerate things as it brings down the credibility.

A resolution was also adopted and the legislators committed to the task of nation-building, and to strive to bring in inclusive and sustainable development.
