Vizag or Visakhapatnam is known as one of the largest port cities in South India. It is also called “The Jewel of the East Coast”. Situated in Andhra Pradesh on the coast of the Bay of Bengal, the city is an important part of the history and development of the area. A hilltop park located close to the city of Vizag, Kailasagiri is frequented by tourists and the locals alike. The hill is moderately large, looming at around 360 feet in height. From the top of the hill, a spectacular view of the city and the nearby beaches can be obtained. The place is the ideal picnic spot, and many families can be found lounging about in the park. The place has something for those of all ages, including a circular train aimed at children and large statues of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati for the religious souls. Escape the Heat, with Araku Valley

Even though it is a coastal city, Vizag can get extremely hot at times. It is at times like these that the Araku Valley seems a great choice to visit. Located in the hills of the Eastern Ghats, Araku Valley is known to be home to a number of tribes. The ride to Araku Valley is a relaxing one, with many tunnels and amazing bridges to traverse. Explore Stalactite in the Borra Caves

Borra caves are located in the Antaragiri area of Vizag, only about seventy kilometres from the city centre. The caves have amazing stalagmite and stalactite formations, and a lot of natural enigma within them. Exploring them thoroughly might take a day in itself, so make sure to start the journey early!

Check out the Submarine Museum
The only Submarine Museum in all of Asia is located in the city of Vizag, just off the RK Beach. The Museum has an elaborate collection of submarines, detailing the history of the nation’s wealth of submarines.

Visiting Vizag on vacation might not seem wise at first, but the experience in the city is sure to thrill even the most hardened traveller. However, remember to take measures to traverse the traffic in and around the city, to make the vacation as enjoyable as possible!
