Six members of a gang allegedly involved in the recent murder of two jewellers in Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh, were arrested in the wee hours today following an encounter with police.
District Senior Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar Mishra told media that seven police personnel and three criminals have been injured in the encounter. He said, the booty and some arms have been recovered from the culprits.
Two traders were killed and two others injured during a robbery at jewellery shops in Mathura on Monday. Jewellers across the state yesterday observed a day-long strike to protest against the killing.
