UP: 18 killed in road accident in Mainpuri

At least 18 people including a woman were killed in a road accident in Mainpuri district this morning. 16 others were injured.While 13 injured have been admitted to district hospital Mainpuri, three have been referred to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Saifai, Etawah in serious condition.

Mainpuri District Magistrate PK Tiwari told media that the accident took place after a Farrukhabad-bound bus overturned after hitting the road divider near Mainpuri town.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the accident and directed officials to provide proper medical facilities to injured.

Minister of state for urban Development Girish Yadav has visited the spot and met the injured and family members of the deceased.

District Magistrate Mainpuri Pradeep Kumar Tiwari told our correspondent that accident took place when a bus coming from Jaipur was on the way to Farrukhabad overturned after hitting road divider near Mainpuri town.

President Ram Nath Kovind has expressed sadness at the tragic incident. In a tweet, Mr Kovind said, the administration is taking steps to help affected people. He also extended heartfelt condolences to bereaved families and wished an early recovery to the injured

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in a tragic accident in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh. Mr Modi hoped that those who are injured recover at the earliest.
