The Karnataka government transferred top IPS official D Roopa, till now the deputy IGP of Prisons after she had revealed a major corruption scam in Parappana Agrahara central jail in the city, to the Traffic wing of the State police.
Ms Roopa in a report had alleged that special treatment were given to AIADMK leader V K Sasikala, who is serving a four-year jail term in Jayalalitha disproportionate assets case.
Her report and going to the press had stirred a major controversy and the Karnataka government had ordered a high-level probe into the incident.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had expressed his ire over the top cops speaking to the media over the incident and said it is against service rule and any such incidents in the jail the officials will be dealt with and ordered the high-level probe.
After the incident made headlines and the issues behind it turned murky with jail officials shifting 32 inmates, who allegedly reported the wrong goings in the jail to Ms Roopa during her visit to the jail, were shifted to other jails in the state.
