TN: Devotees offer special pujas on “Mahalaya Amavasya”


Lakhs of devotees offered special pujas at major rivers and seashores in Tamil Nadu today in view of the “Mahalaya Amavasya,” that falls on the new moon day of the Tamil month Purattasi.

Traditionally, people pay homage to their ancestors on the day by the side of major waterbodies. In the Agnitheerthams at Rameswaram, thousands of people performed the traditional rituals today.
