She appreciated the efforts of the Government as well as the civil society for formulation of a consensus based draft of an effective and strong Lok Pal Bill. “In order to ensure a corruption free society, it would be appropriate to broaden the jurisdiction of the Lok Pal by bringing the Chief Ministers under the ambit of the proposed Lok Pal”, She further added. She underlined the need of a clean public life.
Mrs Dikshit also added that her Government has taken a number of effective steps to enhance transparency and accountability and ensure a better work culture with the help of the Information Technology. Delhi is the first State to implement the Service Level Agreements and enact its RTI Act.
She asserted that her Government has been striving hard to establish transparency. It has also been facilitating smooth functioning of the institutions like, Lokayukt and Public Grievance Commission with the aim of eliminating corruption and providing a fool proof mechanism of grievance redressal.
The Delhi Cabinet met Wednesday and resolved that Delhi Government is willing to enact / or adopt a Lok Pal Bill / Act, in order to place a strong and effective anti-corruption institution. The Chief Minister presided over the meeting.
