Railways to recruit 2.30 lakh employees

The Railways will initiate fresh recruitment of two lakh 30 thousand more employees in the next two years. The vacancies are proposed to be filled in two phases.

The first phase of one lakh 31 thousand 328 posts will be initiated in February to March this year, while the second phase of recruitment of 99 thousand personnel against the vacancies arising out of retirements will be initiated after the first phase recruitment is completed. Recruitment for one lakh, 51 thousand and 548 posts is going on.

Briefing reporters in New Delhi yesterday, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal said, 10 per cent of the vacancies will be filled in from Economically Weaker Sections. He said the current reservation to SC/ST, OBC and the Differently abled will continue in the Railway as usual.
