President of India Parnab Mukherjee, Congress president Sonia Gandhi are among those who have condoled the sad demise of senior journalist Nora Chopra.
Senior journalist and columnist Nora Chopra passed away today in New Delhi after prolonged illness.
“In Smt. Nora Chopra’s death, the nation has lost a veteran journalist who inspired many others. My heartfelt condolences on the passing away of senior journalist and columnist, Smt. Nora Chopra” said President Mukherjee in a statement.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi has condoled the sad demise of veteran journalist. Remembering Chopra as a remarkable journalist & expressing solidarity with family and friends of Smt Chopra, Smt Gandhi has prayed for the departed soul.
Union information and broadcasting minister Venkaiah Naidu has also condoled the passing away of Nora Chopra.
“Saddened by the demise of Nora Chopra. Have known her for the last 20 years. May her soul RIP. My condolences to her family & friends”, M Venkaiah Naidu tweeted.
Press Club, Women Press Corp, Press Association and other media organisations have also condoled the sudden demise of senior journalist.
She was daughter of a veteran freedom fighter Mubarak Mazdoor. She started her journalistic career from Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh and later shifted Delhi where she worked for several newspapers and magazines.
She was laid to final rest at Okhla graveyard in presence of misty–eyed hundreds of friend and relative.
